Acupuncture

Paul Manning offers treatment by Acupuncture.

Acupuncture can be used to treat the following conditions:

Osteoarthritis
skin problems such as lick granuloma
lumbosacral disease
chronic musculoskeletal pain
other painful conditions
some behavioural problems
some forms of gastrointestinal and urinary tract disease

other conditions can be discussed for appropriate treatments.

Acupuncture is an ancient form of treatment where fine needles are inserted into the body at specific 'points' and left in place between 10 and 20 minutes to encourage a therapeutic effect.

Frequency of treatment varies but generally three treatments are performed, one week apart. After this time continuing treatment and the frequency will much depend on the individual animal's need.

Acupuncture is not an exact science but after treatment animals often have more energy and show marked relief from pain. Approximately 70% of animals respond to treatment. Some show quite dramatic improvement after the first treatment, whereas others respond more slowly or occasionally not at all.

One example of a condition where acupuncture is about 85% successful is in the treatment of lick granulomas in dogs.  In these cases there is a red skin lesion which can be 2 inches in diameter usually on a front leg near the carpus/wrist, and the use of acupuncture is now the preferred method of treatment by Dr Paul Manning as it appears to be better than any 'modern' form of treatment.

Please make an appointment to discuss the needs of your pet.
